SENIOR ENGINEER, SITE RELIABILITY (TRANSFORMATION)

IMPACT OF THIS TECHNICAL ROLE:

A Site Reliability Engineer (Transformational) is an engineer who develops improvements in reliability and scale of applications. They are able to develop and coach toward automated solutions for modern networks. They have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate highly technical concepts in order to be clearly understood by customers and technical peers alike.  In this role the engineer will get the opportunity to help design, deploy and maintain global-scale applications in support of network automation solutions.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Understand full-stack on-premise architectures inclusive of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD deployment models, Source of Truth, application and infrastructure observability
  • Seek out opportunities to create reusable modules/packages, driving down time to implement solutions and 
  • Participates with an Agile team to develop and deliver solutions to improve reliability and increase automation in a Global Enterprise environment
  • Demonstrate humble confidence with your ability to influence client opinions by offering technical recommendations, fielding objections and responding with knowledgeable suggestions
  • *Identify project risks and challenges, develop resolution plans, and support troubleshooting
  • *Performs peer reviews, provides guidance, and contributes to best practices of Ansible and Python development
  • *Works with fellow Engineers and Managing Consultants to build automation designs, resolve reliability issues, and provide guidance on best practices client policies

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • 2+ years applying DevOps principles to production infrastructure (While labs are cool, there is nothing quite like breaking prod…)
  • 1+ years working with OpenShift/Kubernetes to deploy and support complex applications (Do you know when to request a higher quota?)
  • Comfort and familiarity using modern DevOps tools and processes in a team environment (Can you fix a merge conflict?)
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely about complex technical topics (Can you explain a declarative deployment to someone?)
  • Experience with Enterprise tools for service and application monitoring (Are you certain file systems are mounted and all services are running?)
  • Experience with Enterprise CI/CD tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, etc)
  • Drive to automate system health checks and troubleshooting (Does it frustrate you when you have to manually perform the same steps multiple times?)
